Fresh constructions coming up at Pahalgam despite ban

Pahalgam, Jan 31 : Despite a state high court ban, violators having political and bureaucratic patronage have yet again resumed plundering fragile environment of this world famous tourist resort by raising illegal constructions that too in this harsh period of winter. Highly placed sources told early Times that rich and influential people are tricking Pahalgam Development Authority officials and are raising the constructions. Among such, a Pahalgam resident has started constructing the base (plinth) probably for Hut in Aru Mandlen near the entry gate of wildlife department totally in violation of norms and High Court Directions. Violator has dumped some construction material at the spot and is tricking Pahalgam Development Authority by covering the base with polythene to illustrate it as a tent of nomadic family.
The area where constructing is taking place is according to official sources falling in Aru Wildlife sanctuary, however department denies. A senior wildlife official said that the area where construction is taking place doesn't fall in their jurisdiction. "Area is not notified and doesn't fall in Aru wildlife sanctuary," official claimed.
Official of the Pahalgam Development Authority is supposed to supervise the area, admitted to have received such information. "I too received this information so without wasting time tomorrow we will visit area demolish the plinth if found constructed," Official pleading anonymity said. Sources inside PDA revealed that recently Chief Executive Officer served explanation letters to some employees for allowing an influential hotelier to construct one more hut.
