Jammu, Jan 31: Putting the reputation of Jammu and Kashmir Police at stake, some cops, in order to mint more money are allegedly extending loan facilities to businessmen @ 24 percent per annum. The matter came to limelight before senior police officers after the intervention of High Court which has directed Commissioner Secretary Home, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu and SSP Jammu to take action against the erring cops under law. The directions on the part of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir at Jammu came to Police after one Bal Krishan Gupta (50) s/o late Yash Pal Gupta knocked the door of court and sought its intervention for protecting his family from some cops from whom he had raised loan @ 24 percent per annum. The aggrieved in his complaint had alleged that some police officers offered him loan facilities @ 24 percent per annum and since he had dire need of money to run his business of Tour and Travel therefore he availed the same, adding twist lies in his life when even after paying the same with interest, the cops started harassing him in order to extract more money from him. Even, they forcefully barged into his residence at Nanak Nagar and used filthy language against his wife and two daughters, besides tortured them. Meanwhile, Inspector Anita Chopra against whom the allegations have been leveled when contacted said that she was being made scapegoat by the Tour and Travel operator as the said man, took the advantage of friendship, and borrowed Rs 13 lakh from her mother and is refusing to repay it. Later, she realized besides her, the said man, had duped other police officers, including a Mumbai based woman. She further said that earlier, the said man lodged a complaint with the IGP Jammu which was disposed of after proper investigation, adding, she had too knocked the door of court to get justice. |
