Jammu, Jan 31: Amidst indications that the prevailing political stalemate in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to prolong with no possibility of Government formation as of now, the Governor N N Vohra is going to appoint his Advisors for assisting him to run the administrative affairs. According to the highly placed sources, process in this regard has been set into motion and appointment of the new Advisors to the Governor may be announced very soon as names of two former bureaucrats have been almost finalized for the highly significant position. A retired IAS officer from Kashmir Valley and a former Principal Secretary to the Governor is among the two names, making rounds for their appointment as the Advisors while an ex- Army Commander is also under consideration for this assignment, sources added. The exercise of looking for the Advisors was initiated after the Union Ministry of Home Affairs purportedly signaled the Governor that popular Government in Jammu and Kashmir is unlikely to be formed in the next two months. Pertinent to mention that the Governor's rule was imposed in the State last year also for more than a month till the PDP-BJP coalition, headed by Late Mufti Mohd Sayeed had taken over reins of Government on March 1 last year, but there was no appointment of any Advisor for that brief period. However, this time, the Governor's rule is likely to prolong even for more than three months and in such a scenario, the appointment of Advisors is necessary for assisting the Governor N N Vohra in smooth functioning of the Government, sources explained. |
