JAMMU, Apr 13: Several cops, who were transferred from various police stations in the district here following allegations of corruption and indiscipline against them, have yet not been relieved. Most of them are 'karyakhaas', who are termed in police stations as 'confidants' of SHOs. For being close to SHOs, they are termed as powerful within and outside the police stations. To get their transfer orders cancelled, the police station heads were alleged to be making all out efforts, police sources alleged. Sources said while after their transfers, which were effected a few days back, some were relieved immediately, the others were yet not shifted to their new places of posting. They were transferred following allegations of corruption and indiscipline against them, sources informed, alleging that they were virtually running the thanas. Sources said while the SHOs were making desperate efforts to retain 'karyakhas' with them, transfer order of any of them was yet to be cancelled by senior police officers. Sources said it was astonishing to find that while on one hand, the 'tainted' cops had been transferred or attached with DPL to streamline the functioning of thanas, on the other, no strictness was being done to relieve them. |
