Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 13: Instead of promoting nationalistic thoughts amongst the school children, a shocking episode of encouraging nationalism of neighboring country by a school has surfaced which resorted to insidious modus operandi highlighting Pak flag on cover of note books of the school functioning in border belt of Jammu district.
Sources informed Early Times that the wards of school going children took cognizance of a Pakistan flag published on cover page of school note books alongwith Indian flag which were issued to students by Holy Cross Convent High School R. S. Pura and people strongly protested controversial move by the school through students' note books highlighting Pak flag.
While recapitulating days of schoo hood, Ramesh Singh, an educationist said that since the mind of a child is easily impressionable and vulnerable to whatever he comes across, the management of School should keep the school children at an arms length from such reciprocating attempt by writing "Peace is possible" on the note book ostensibly as a pointer towards both the countries grappling for improving relations, further said, adding that the school should rather concentrate exclusively on promoting academic excellence, extra-curricular activities besides instilling nationalism of mother land. Ravinder Singh, Sarpanch of Simbal Camp said that school is supposed to teach and learn greatness of India and Indian who sacrificed their life to achieve independence and got riddance from the clutches of foreign rulers but unfortunately Holy Cross Convent High School is seemingly indulging into activities obviously by adopting means inimical to the mental growth of new generation studying in the school.
The sources further informed that people of R S. Pura vociferously voiced their resentment against seditious trend being set up in school, further said, adding that it may be a stretch of imagination, but apprehended that the management of school, which is missionary in nature, appears to be promoting agenda of ISI clandestinely which might have been conceived to use schools for executing sinister plans of indoctrination at school level and to aggrandize their wicked move. As per media reports, the local authority suddenly came out of deep slumber following protest of public and ZEPO Suresh Dubey and Naib Tehsildar Rajinder Kumar reportedly seized the controversial note books from the school.
The sources flayed the laxity of local police and civil administration to keep an eye on such activities which can prove hazardous for the nation and sought high level probe by the government to unearth the complicity in the matter, if any, and also the reasons prompting Holy Cross High School management to introduce Pak flag on school note book to ascertain whether it is just incidentally or otherwise which shall be healthy in either way, they said.
