Early Times Report

Rajouri, Apr 13: Astonishing it may sound , but the fact that haunts the three important departments related to the construction and developments of the roads in the district Rajouri is that none of it knows what is being cooking up under its nose.
The one and half kilometer new link road that stretches from village Barnara to Thumba in Nala Makol Panchyat is near about its completion while its DPR doesn't exists in the government records and the officials put up an ignorant point of view when asked as to whether any such kind of work is in progress under their jurisdiction.
It is pertinent to mention here that a particular mafia is in operation in this part of the district that has taken up the contractual works on various aspects obviously in connivance with different departments , but on a pretext that such contractors will not be queried on any issue and I reciprocation the departments would not be included into any controversy.
Two heavy JCBs are put on job by the 'unknown' contractors who are constructing this road and have brought in heavy blasting material which is bought in use a various places to blast the mountainous terrain.
" We are astonished as when no executing agency is involved in the construction of the road, then how these contractors are executing the job while using the heavy machinery and blasting the roads and that too under the very nose of the administration," aid a resident of Thumba.
Assistant Executive Engineer, Public Works Department Shokat Ali expressed his ignorance on the issue and said that department has not issued any sort of the construction of the road.
His point of view was echoed by Thoru Ram, the gram sevak in Block Development office who also said that no such work is allocated to any executing agency as there is no proposal to make the road.
Prime Minister Gram Seva Yojna, assistant executive engineer Sanjay Raina expressed astonishment when asked as to whether there is any official assignment given to any contractors to make a one and a half kilometer new link road from Barnara to Thumba.
District Commissioner Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Bhat while talking to the Early times said that such is a very surprising issue and assured quick action against the culprits.
"I will take the cognizance of the matter and also hold an enquiry to such incident. If anybody is found guilty, an FIR would be lodged against him and sever action will also be initiated," assured DC Shabir Ahmed Bhat.
