Handwara episode exposes separatists

Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 13: Handwara episode and violence has exposed the separatist and hardliner Hurriyat group headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani which is hell bent to create a 1990 type situation in militancy ravaged Valley again.
According to sources, formation of coalition by mainstream Kashmir centric PDP and BJP for the second time in the State during last one year has neither gone well with separatists nor some mainstream organizations in the Valley and they are hell bent in creating a trouble for the coalition and throw horns for smooth functioning of Mehbooba Mufti led Government.
The Handwara episode followed by NIT Srinagar unrest is a beginning towards the same. The octogenarian Hurriyat hardliner Geelani who wants to call the shots in separatist politics to ensure that all separatist groups should revolve round him and carry on his dictates is leaving no stone unturned to disturb the situation in Valley which was fast limping towards normalcy.
Geelani and his henchmen backed by Pakistan and its dreaded militant outfits don't want that situation should normalize in Kashmir and peace should return to trouble torn Valley which has witnessed a lot of bloodshed during the last 26 years of turmoil.
Sources said Geelani and his supporters whose writ runs large in some parts of North Kashmir are leaving no opportunity in defaming the Indian army and security forces by leveling wild and baseless allegations against them.
Despite the fact that the girl against the rumor was floated that army man misbehaved with her denied the charge outrightly by terming it totally baseless, the vested interests in the Handwara township provoked people to violence by creating a law and order situation for the administration and police.
This is not for the first time but such episodes have taken place in Valley many times in past especially summer season to give a setback to tourist influx in valley and hit its economy completely by the separatists, sources added.
Sources said 2010 and 2012 situation which was created during the summer was also outcome of the same policy of the separatists. But it is unfortunate that the main stream political parties like NC which too faced same problem during 2010 and 2012 summer and Congress which was the coalition partner of NC during that time instead of taking on terrorists and apprising the people of reality by solidly standing behind the peace loving people and cooperating with the Government in defeating the designs of Geelani's Hurriyat and other parties are unnecessary playing politics over Handwara issue to outwit Mehbooba and her party, sources added.
Sources said this way the opposition is doing no good to itself too as instead of concentrating on vote politics and to score numbers over its rivals the opposition is morally bound to treat the termite of terrorism and separatism which is harming the interests of all Kashmiris irrespective of their religion caste and colour. The day the mainstream parties realize this reality, the separatists will beat a hasty retreat and go underground once for all to pave way for return of peace and normalcy in the Valley, sources added.
