Rehabilitation of 132 families finalized

UDHAMPUR, May 18 - District Development Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today organized public meetings at remote areas Saddal and Moungri for finalising rehabilitation of landslide affected families.
The DDC along with all district officers and army officers visited landslide affected Saddal village to finalise re-construction plan in consultation with affected families. Union Minister of State in the PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh has provided Rs 25 Lakh as contribution towards rehabilitation plan. The rehabilitation plan included 132 houses, hospital, school, community hall, toilets, anganwadi centres, restoration of land, protection works, construction of village roads and paths, power supply and potable drinking water. It was informed that the rehabilitation work will commence in June.
Detailed consultations were held with affected families for location of rehabilitation, availability of land, development of clusters and assistance for livelihood. The Rehabilitation Project has been formulated by District Administration under convergence of various schemes with assistance provided by Dr Jitendra Singh. Solar lights have already been provided to all 132 families apart from relief and compensation to the tune of Rs 3 Cr.
The locals raised various issues during the public meeting which include construction of roads, rationalization of teachers, provision of solar lights in uncovered areas, irrigations schemes, plantation by horticulture, creation of 6 new 25 KVA stations and 1650 electric poles under CSS, promotion of tourism under Panchayat Tourism Project, construction of 3 mountain bridges and promotion of religious tourism. The DDC assured the locals for redressal of all genuine issues on priority.
The DDC directed the department for advance stocking of ration in Khourgali for 8 panchayats before onset of monsoon season, formulation of panchayat development plans, creation of Transformer Bank, completion of library, strengthening of health establishments and social audit of around 18 schools.
General Public thanked the district administration for construction of 22 Mountain Bridges of spans upto 25 meters under Project Rahat.
