| Third Front: Failed concept of independent politicians | | | Javaid Naikoo

Srinagar, May 18: Third Front launched with great deal of fanfare by independent Politicians of Jammu and Kashmir even after four of its announcement failed to provide an alternative political platform to common masses. In October 2013, independent politicians, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami State Secretary CPI (M), Hakim Mohammad Yasin president PDF, Abdul Rashid Kabuli President,JKNDF, Sheikh Abdul Rehman State President Samajwadi Party, I D Khajuria president IDP, Abdul Rehman Tukru state secretary CPI and Sanjay Saraf, leader Lok Janshakti Party announced to launch Third front in Jammu and Kashmir to provide an alternative Political platform for common masses.
The leaders then said that people of state were fed-up of believing in traditional Political parties NC, PDP and Congress time and again and receiving nothing in return of their votes.
A joint statement issued for the public interest then from the office of M.Y Tarigami on behalf of all members of third front mentioned that "an important convention on socio-economic and political situation of Jammu and Kashmir is scheduled at Sher-i-Kashmir Park Srinagar on 30th of October 2013 at 12:00 noon, wherein some important announcements with regard to future course of action will be made."
The leaders then also said that second convention of third front will be held in Jammu after one month and later conventions will be held at all District Headquarters of state to make participation of people wider.
In their back to back meetings held at Gupkar Residence of MLA,Kulgam M.Y Tarigami developed a consensus to select Tarigami as the Chairman of third front and third front a particular name.
Four years down the line, third front impression reached nowhere and independent politicians till date complaining unfairness in state politics failed to provide an alternative political space to people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources who remained part of third front disclosed Early times that few things which failed the concept of third front emergence still haunt its founders.
They said that independent politicians at their own level used all means to include some noted faces of state politics in third front who usually won from their constituencies on their own.
However according to sources it proved a failed exercise as most of them refused to desert their parent parties despite assurances in advance to third front founders.
"Three noted successful Politicians who had issues with their parties earlier assured to join third Front before elections then, but they took a u-turn after patching up with their parties and refused to join unhindered." sources said
Sources said that Sajad Gani lone, Engineer Rasheed, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Ghulam Nabi Ratanpori and Muzafar Shah had also then expressed their willingness to join third front but due to some undisclosed reasons had refused to join at the last moment.
In present times a group of well educated People of different parts of state are busy in preparations of launching of Third front in Jammu and Kashmir in near future.
A meeting in this regard was recently held here at Srinagar in which many noted faces of Kashmir participated and disclosed to sources that second meeting will be held in Jammu very soon to engage more like minded people. |
