Man denied bail in rape, suicide abetment case | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 18: Fast Track Court presiding officer Kishore Kumar today rejected the bail application of an accused allegedly involved in the rape and suicide abetment case of a minor. Kamal Kumar, son of Mohinder Pal of ward No 3, Arnia, was alleged to have raped a minor girl, who lived in his neighbourhood, on February 16, 2016. The girl was found dead at her residence on February 17. Police had registered a case in this connection and initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 of CrPC. In her statement to police, girl's mother Sangeeta Devi alleged that the boy, who lived in their neighbourhood, had abducted her daughter on February 16, 2016 and then raped her. Next day, she and her husband left home for routine work, but when they returned home for lunch in the afternoon, they saw the girl's body hanging from the door. "Perusal of CD file reveals that the investigation of the case has not been completed so far. The accused was arrested March 8, 2016 for the commission of offences under sections 363, 376 and 306 of RPC. The investigation of the case is at initial stage and bail to the petitioner at this stage will definitely thwart the investigation. The winning over of the prosecution witnesses is also not ruled out," the presiding officer said. After hearing the two sides, he rejected the bail application of the accused. (JNF) |
