LMD books traders for fleecing consumers, imposes Rs 35000 fine

poonch, May 30: Ahead of the Holy month of Ramdhan, a team of officials from Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Poonch under the supervision of Assistant Controller Kewal Krishan conducted a comprehensive market inspection at Poonch and adjoining border areas where business units' sealing packed goods, karyana items, meat, vegetables and fruits etc. Legal Metrology Officer Som Nath booked several traders found indulged in various kinds of fraudulent practices. Some traders were also booked who were found fraudulently supplying less quantity of commodity to consumers whereas others were booked for using unauthorised weighing scales which were without passing document from the department. The Assistant Controller compounded all the cases on the spot and realised a penalty to the tune of Rs 35000/- from the erring traders.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Controller, in message has warned all the traders not to indulge in any kind of fraudulent practice and warned that any default on their part shall be dealt with stringently in the competent court of law.
