JAMMU, JAN 14: In his first meeting with top brass of the security forces, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has sent a categorical message of zero tolerance to human rights violations.
Addressing first meeting of the Unified Headquarters, the CM called for zero tolerance on human rights violations and asked the concerned authorities to investigate any violation, if it takes place, in a transparent manner and give quick punishment, if awarded.
The Chief Minister asked the Chief Secretary to sort out the issues between the civil administration and the army in matters of acquisition of land, rent and other related issues and hoped that Civil and Military Liaison Conference shall be held on first priority.
On the issue of vacation of Government buildings, especially Health and Educational institutions, by security forces, the Chief Minister said that a Committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary to Government, Home that will examine the issue and take a decision on providing alternate accommodation to the security forces. JAMMU, JAN 14: The all-powerful British Foreign Secretary David Miliband was in the Union Capital meeting top Indian leadership but Chief Minister Omar Abdullah sitting in Jammu did not miss the opportunity of making a point towards easing tension in the region –he spoke to Miliband through teleconferencing.
An official spokesman for the Chief Minister said that Omarhad a teleconference last evening with the British Foreign Secretary, Mr. David Miliband, who is currently on a visit to India.
