Jammu, Mar 27: Within minutes after former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah termed the assurance of Home Minister Amit Shah on the Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) as a political gimmick, chairman of the Peoples’ Conference Sajad Gani Lone said that that it was the NC Congres that brought this Act to J&K.
“Removal of AFSPA will be an excellent step. The People of Kashmir will welcome it. If it is removed. Let us take the Home Minister for his word and let us hope he honours his word”, Lone said.
In an obvious reference to the National Conference, he said, “And to those Kashmiri leaders who ruled J&K and their national partners who brought in AFSPA and never took it back. Can u please have the decency of shutting up”.

Family members of Kaushala Devi while talking to Early Times said that their ordeal began when a doctor from Sunderbani Hospital purportedly directed them to seek treatment for their mother at a private hospital. He even assured us that an Ayushman card is accepted there.
However, days before the scheduled operation at the private hospital, the family was informed that the Ayushman card was no longer valid.

NEW DELHI, Mar 27:
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address a conference of army commanders here on April 2, during which the senior military leadership will also assess the overall security situation, the defence ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Army Commanders’ Conference, the first for the year 2024 will be organised in a hybrid mode.

SRINAGAR, Mar 27: Jammu and Kashmir has 592 species of birds, an improvement from earlier reports.
A study published in Indian Birds-a journal of south Asian Ornithology- analysed the available data which revealed that J&K has 592 species of birds belonging to 21 orders and 88 families.
The last checklist of birds was made in 2020 for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and that had put the number of birds as 555. “This time 592 species have been found only in J&K and does not include Ladakh. The data shows clear improvement from the previous checklist,” said Intesar Suhail, Wildlife Warden North, and one of the authors of the report.

SRINAGAR, Mar 27: With overnight cloud cover amid forecast for wet spell, night temperature recorded an increase in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
A meteorological department official said that Srinagar recorded a minimum of 9.5°C against 5.4°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 34°C for the summer capital of JK for this time of the year.
Qazigund recorded a minimum of 8.0°C against 4.4°C on the previous night and it was 3.3°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.
