| 1-lakh gallon water tank collapses in Paloura | | SE, Xen, AEE fired, enquiry initiated | | |
Jammu, June 4: The quality infrastructure claims of the government came down crumbling as a one-lakh gallon capacity overhead tanker collapsed in the wee hours of this morning in Ploura area. This overhead tank was made operational some eight months ago.
In a quick-fix reaction, the government has placed under suspension one Superintending Engineer, two Executive Engineers and a Junior Engineer. An inquiry has also been ordered to fix the guilt.
A large number of local residents, unhappy with the poor quality of construction material used in the construction of over head tank, assembled near the collapsed structure and demanded stern action against the guilty.
An official spokesman said that the government has constituted a committee of officers which include Daleep Bakshi, Chief Engineer, I&FC, Jammu, B. R. Dogra Chief Engineer, RTIC, Jammu and OP Bajotra, Chief Engineer, ERA, Srinagar to enquire into the case and circumstances leading to the collapse of one lakh gallons capacity over Head Tank at Jaggi Darbar, Paloura.

New Delhi Jun 4: Inflation declined to 0.48 per cent for the week ended May 23 from 0.61 per cent in the previous week even though the prices of essential food items like fruit, tea, cereals, and pulses continued to be expensive.

SRINAGAR, June 4: Undeterred by the unrest in the Kashmir Valley over the mysterious death of two women, as many as 40 guests from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here today.
In all 87 people crossed side in the Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir and Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK.

Srinagar, June 4 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today met his security advisor and discussed the security situation here in the wake of recent violence in the border state, Defence sources said.
