Govt penalizes selectively; Sahini, Hamal, Shehgal, others go scot free
'It's more than what meets eye'
6/8/2012 11:39:53 PM
Syed Junaid Hashmi JAMMU, June 8: State government especially Governor N.N.Vohra's office has taken selective action against the officials of Jammu University who were indicted by the three member inquiry committee. In-depth analysis of inquiry committee report brings to light government's 'my favourite' oriented approach while dealing with the recommendations made by the three member committee. Certain friends of National Conference (NC) who are an essential part of the Jammu University's loud mouth team have ensured that those officials who did not budge to their demands of appointment and extension are penalized overnight. This is not to deny the fact that those penalized so far are facing serious charges of financial bunglings and administrative manipulation. But government's action has so far remained biased and one-sided. Apart from selective leaks which have already appeared in the media, the three member inquiry committee report has recommended scrutiny of purchases worth Rs. 3 crore made by Prof. Irshad Ahmed Hamal for Bhaderwah campus of Jammu University while acting a...

A Class-IV employee "enjoys" profligacy with three official vehicles and PSOs at his disposal!
Working as PRO with top Cong Mantri
6/8/2012 11:39:36 PM
early time report Jammu, June 8: It is incredible but true! At least three official vehicles of the government, meant for Gazetted rank officials, and equal number of police personnel have been kept at the 'disposal' of a Class-IV employee, who is presently working as Public Relation Officer (PRO) with a top Congress minister having loyalty with Ghulam Nabi Azad camp. Shockingly, none of the senior officers concerned posted at different departments, which are under the porfolio of the said Minister, have ever initiated any step to with draw the same. Besides, no senior police officer has gathered gutts to inquire how men in Khaakhi are escorting a Class-IV employee whenever he visits ...

6/8/2012 11:39:16 PM

He also said, "The target set for the last fiscal was surpassed because of continuous support of our valuable customers, who are our real patrons." Let nobody malign fair name of CRPF
Stone pelting cases......!
6/8/2012 11:39:01 PM
early times report Jammu, June 8: The State police has registered six cases of stone pelting against some troopers of the CRPF in the Valley. There has been a deliberate leak to the media in this regard and the story was carried by some of the media with prominence using even a picture of a CRPF jawan and a catapult to shoot a stone at a mob of stone pelters. Ostensibly the deliberate leak was made to the media to prop up the image of the state police and to prove that in their fairness to the law and order situation the state police does not even spare its 'cousins in the security grid when it comes to fixing responsibilities'. Those who ...

Bashir Assad Srinagar, June 8: A day after this news-paper disclosed that Aslam Goni, chairman J&K Cricket Association has been indicted by the internal probe committee for embezzling crores of rupees, he came out with a statement challenging the authority of JKCA president Dr. Farooq Abdullah for vesting the powers to anybody without consulting the working committee of the association. Goni's statement has surprised many who know about the acquaintances he has been enjoying with senior Abdullah since long and many even challenge the intensity of the statement attributed to Goni in this behalf. 6/8/2012 11:37:48 PM
early times report Jammu, June 8: While a number of KP organizations have strongly criticized the statement of MLA Langate Engineer Abdul Rashid that "Pandits do not want to return to Valley….", the social networking sites too are loaded with debate, ruing it as 'unfortunate comment, albeit contesting it in a critical analytical manner and at the same posing certain 'uneasy' questions to him . In one such comments while dismissing MLA's statement, it has been observed that if it were as simple as packing up bags and returning home, Kashmiri Pandits would have done so a very long time ago. 6/8/2012 11:37:40 PM

With state government totally ignoring their problems, the community which has over 5000 years of rich cultural history, are facing the total extinction due to wrong policies of state and central governments adopted since 1947 after the accession of state with India. The entire community which was hounded out from valley by the Pak sponsored terrorists who wanted to convert Kashmir into an Islamic state are today refugees not only in their own country but within the state. Though 23 years have now passed since over four lakh KPs were ...

Anti-yatra elements in Kashmir advance spurious arguments
Duration Of Amarnath Pilgrimage
6/8/2012 11:37:29 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 8: One can easily understand the reasons behind the conflict between the Hindu religious organizations or Shiva Bhaktas and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over the issue of duration of Amarnath yatra. One can also understand the reasons behind the ongoing confrontation between Governor, N N Vohra, who is also the ex-officio chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) and the devotees of Lord Shiva. Likewise, one can also catalogue the causes responsible for the bitterness between the founder of Art of Living, Sri Sri Ravishankar and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). Since everything is in public domain, it is hardly necessary to report anything more in th...

Kashmiri opposition to reorganization demand ill-motivate
Trifurcation A Viable Solution
6/8/2012 11:37:14 PM
NEHA JAMMU, June 8: Kashmiri leaders, including Union Minister Farooq Abdullah, former JKPCC president Ghulam Rasool Kar and scores of others of their ilk, oppose day in and day out the demand for the reorganisation of Jammu & Kashmir on regional basis. They say that they would not allow the "vested interests" and "communal" elements in Jammu and Ladakh to subvert the state's polity painstakingly built up by Sheikh Abdullah, who, according to the NC leaders, "considered religious and regional bias a crime and domination of one region over the other an abominable act". The upshot of their whole argument is that the polity in Jammu & Kashmir is based on the principles of justice and equity ...

Hashim's advice to Hurriyat leaders
Elections And Azadi
6/8/2012 11:36:59 PM
RUSTAM JAMMU, June 8: Hashim Qureshi, who in 1971 hijacked an Indian passenger plane to Pakistan and remained in jail for years, has advised the Kashmiri separatists to contest elections and enter the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly. Qureshi these days leads the little-talked about Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Liberal Party (JKDLP). The JKDLP does stand for liberation but it doesn't resort to violence or unconstitutional methods to achieve the objective. The fact of the matter is that it doesn't speak quite frequently. Hashim Qureshi is one Kashmiri separatist who believes that the UN resolutions on Jammu & Kashmir just cannot be implemented. He is of the view that the UN resolutions ...

NC in shock as 55 panches, sarpanches resign
6/8/2012 11:36:47 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 8: It was June 8 today but for `democracy' it was as good, rather as bad as `Friday the 13th'. Scores of panches and sarpanches submitted their resignation through Imams of local mosques across Pulwama district. They also regretted their participation in Panchayat elections held last year. It was reminiscent of early 90s when National Conference workers expressed their dissociation with the party through paid advertisements, said a political activist. Significantly the Panchayat elections are perceived as a major achievement of the Omar led government. The activist perceives the latest development as a major setback to the National Conference....
