Early Times Report Jammu, June 7: A complaint of alleged favoritism in the Health department has reached the corridors of power in New Delhi as a Kashmiri doctor has been “unduly” given promotion to the post of Director “bypassing in her seniors in the seniority list.” Sources said the doctor, who is wife of a former bureaucrat was elevated as Director in family welfare whereas two of the doctors, senior to her were “outright ignored.” Official documents accessed by the Early Times reveal that two of the doctors, at serial number one and two in the seniority list were seemingly “ignored.” Senior doctors in the establishment said, as per the convention, the senior most doctor, who was at serial one, was supposed to be given directorship as she was scheduled to retire in the coming weeks. “There has been a convention in the administration that officials are given promotion even in the last week of their service career as the promotion is supposed to be the reward for their services and seniority but here in this particular case just to appease an influential family, she was...

Early Times Report Jammu, June 7: Nearly 150 people were killed and more than 1000 suffered injuries in over 850 road accidents reported between January to April this year across the Jammu region. Official sources here on Wednesday said that in this period 1800 road accidents were reported across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir that claimed almost 200 lives but in Jammu Province alone, 150 people were killed, 1000 injured in over 850 accidents.
