REASI, SEPTEMBER 27 – Reasi accorded a historic welcome to Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad on his arrival here today to address a public function organized by Minister for Rural Development and MLA of the area Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma to celebrate creation of new district at Reasi. More than 30,000 people gave a standing ovation to Azad soon he entered the venue of the function at the huge parade ground. Wednesday, 27 September Tirunelveli: President APJ Abdul Kalam had a narrow escape when a portion of the ceiling of a room collapsed a few feet away from where he was standing during his visit to the Koodankulan nuclear plant. A part of the ceiling came down on Friday when an airconditioner mechanic got on top of it in an attempt to switch on an AC unit, an official said. Srinagar, Sept 27: Twelve security personnel were among 14 people injured in a grenade explosion triggered by militants at Badshah Chowk in the heart of the city on Sept 27. Militants hurled the grenade towards a police party at Badshah Chowk around 1550 hours causing splinter injuries to ten cops and two CRPF personnel, official sources said. They said two civilians passing through the area were also injured in the blast. Jammu, September 27: A live mortar shell, used in 1971 Indo-Pak war, was found by some labourers on the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway in Kathua district, disrupting traffic for over an hour, official sources said.
