Improve LPG home delivery in Jammu: Minister

Jammu, Dec 13: Expressing dissatisfaction over poor home delivery system of LPG in Jammu city, consumer affairs and public distribution (CAPD) minister Qamar Ali Akhoon directed the oil companies to speed up the process of updating the Know Your Customer (KYC) forms by January 2013. He said it while addressing a joint meeting of high-level officers of the state government and senior functionaries' of the oil companies convened to review the status of filling up of necessary documents for regularisation of domestic gas connections initiated in September after cap on subsidised LPG cylinders were announced. Akhoon asked the companies to accelerate the process for setting up gas agencies at block level for which all formalities, including the requisite advertisements, should be completed till January. Appreciating the efforts of the authorities of HPCL in improving the home delivery system in the Kashmir division, the minister advised the authorities of the oil companies working in Jammu to ensure that every consumer got home delivery within shortest possible time. The minister emphasised the need of greater coordination among all agencies concerned, like government departments and oil companies, to extend enhanced basic services like cooking gas to people. He also asked the officers to ensure that the consumers got hassle free LPG supply, besides keeping a strict vigil over black-marketing of the same. Among others CAPD secretary Mohammad Abbas Dar, Jammu CA&PD director Parveez Ahmad Malik, Kashmir CAPD director Mir Mushtaq Ahmed, HPCL senior regional manager Ashwani Kumar Gupta, IOCL area manager JK Khajuria, senior sales officer, Kashmir, Haroon Hamid, representatives of BPC and senior officers of CAPD attended the meeting.
