Ban entry of mediamen to Police establishments
Kishtwar Police attempt to gag media

Jammu, Dec 13: in an attempt to curb the freedom of press guaranteed by the constitution of India, Kishtwar Police today in a bid to gag media banned the entry of mediamen into Police establishments including Police stations and Police posts of the area. Verbal instructions were communicated to the concerned officers and officials from those at the helm of affairs.
The dictate of the kishtwar police came after ET broke the news of detention of 6 Burmese nationals from highly militancy effected area of Dachhan. ET had earlier also broken the news of arrest of key ISI agent and Khandar hijacker Mehraj-ud-Din.
Guards on duty at Police station kishtwar told ET correspondent that senior police officers had directed them not allow his entry inside the police station Kishtwar that also hosts the office complex of Dy.SP HQ Kishtwar. When contacted, the officers however said that there were no such instructions, but the security guards refused entry to the ET correspondent, thus exposing the lie of senior police officers.
Kishtwar police have earned dubious distinction of repeatedly violating of the fundamental rights of a common citizen. A Probationary Sub Inspector recently demanded money for investigation of a case from an aggrieved family whose 24 year old son went missing--- The irony is that senior police officials of Kishtwar police instead of taking action against the erring PSI awarded him by posting the accused as incharge of a police post. Kishtwar Police even many time did not bothers to oblige court directions/honoring courts as a result of which former CJM Kishtwar Ashwani Sharma was forced to imposed fine of deduction of one day pay from the salary of one of the senior police officer which was later stayed by the former Principal District and Session Judge Kishtwar during review petition filed by the police officer. It was not only senior police officers against whom judiciary passed structure, but many officials posted as SHOs in Kishtwar District were also pulled by the judges for non compliance from time to time and even issued non bailable warrants against them. Senior police officials of Kishtwar District blame media for highlighting the issues pertaining to Kishtwar District without accepting their own fault.
Kishtwar Police have become a headless chicken where the head is waiting for his reliever for more than five months after State Government cleared his deputation to his home State.
