| Separatist leaders or blue-eyed boys of Delhi? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 13: The so-called moderate Hurriyat Conference leaders headed by Mirwaiz Omar Farooq are leaving for Pakistan on 15th December on the invitation of Pakistan Government. The separatist leaders the Mirwaiz is carrying with him include Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat, Molvi Abbas Ansari, Bilal Gani Lone, Syed Hassan, Musadiq Adil and Mukhtar Ahmad Waza. The visit of these separatist leaders has to be cleared by the Indian Government before they can apply for visas to Pakistan high commission. Before leaving Srinagar, these leaders were seen packing bags full of gifts for their Pakistani friends and well-wishers. On an ideological plank, the separatist leaders stand for anything, but India. They are ready to accept an independent Kashmir instead of merger with Pakistan as along as that decision keeps Jammu and Kashmir out of the country's map. It is not only ironic, but tragic as well that the Governments both at the Centre and in the State are extending all possible courtesies to these separatist leaders including posting of armed guards to protect them. Never once have the intelligence agencies who conduct threat appraisal exercises for the separatist leaders said against whom these leaders are being protected? Are the armed guards posted for their security meant to protect the separatist leaders from separatist gunmen? Or are the armed guards posted for the protection of the separatist leaders from our own security forces? It is high time a white paper is issued by the State Government putting all the facts in public domain. It is the precious money of the country's tax payers that goes into the salaries of those armed guards posted for the protection of the Kashmiri separatist leaders. The citizens of India those include the tax payers of this country have the right to know into whose protection their tax money goes. Interestingly, when the separatist leaders attend public meetings and press conferences in winter capital Srinagar which are basically nothing other than India bashing exercises, the armed guards provided to them by the State Government stand guarding them. Enough money has already been spent on the protection of the separatist leaders and even larger and undisclosed amounts have gone into their appeasement from various intelligence agencies of the country. Don't the State and the Centre owe an explanation to the citizens of the country as to why armed guards are posted to protect the very separatist leaders whose only occupation is to keep up the momentum against the country? |
