JAMMU, Dec 13: Outplaying Punjab by a huge margin of 89 runs, Jammu and Kashmir boys today qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing 58th National School Games U-19 Tennis Ball Cricket at different venues, here. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, J&K made 104 runs for the loss of two wickets in given 12 overs which, in reply, Punjab could not chase and bowled out for just 15 runs. Hinan and Amit were top scorers from J&K with 49 and 45 runs respectively. Later, Umar and Sultan took three and two wickets respectively to reduce the opponent to a small total. Meanwhile, semifinals line-up has been drawn with the entry of three more teams in the last four stages of the competition. Other semifinals are Jharkhand, Goa and Madhya Pradesh. In the quarterfinals, played today, Jharkhand beat CBSE by 13 runs while Goa outplayed Tamil Nadu by eight runs. Madhya Pradesh trounced Chattisgarh by four wickets to enter semifinals. In girls section, two teams of Chattisgarh and Gujarat today sailed into the semifinals. Earlier, in the quarterfinals, played today, Chattisgarh beat Madhya Pradesh by five wickets while Gujarat outplayed Uttar Pradesh by 25 runs. This competition is being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) under the banner of School Games Federation of India (SGFI). |
