Rajouri, Dec 13: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), is going organize its first convocation of the University on December 16 in which Internationally renowned and business tycoon and Chairman Infosys Limited N R Narayana Murthy will be the Chief Guest while Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who also is Chancellor of BGSBU will preside the historic event of the institution.
Addressing press conference here in the University Campus, Vice Chancellor Prof Irshad Ahmed Hamal said that the University is going to hold its first historic programme of convocation on December 16, 2012. He said that a total of 918 pass outs will be presented the degrees in various streams however the University has screened 342 candidates with higher merit to receive the degree in this convocation. He said that 39 candidates who are the toppers in various postgraduate and undergraduate programmes shall receive Gold Medal.
Giving details, Vice Chancellor said that five candidates shall be accorded M.Phil degree. At Postgraduate level, six candidate of M.A Arabic will receive Gold Medal and 27 will receive Degrees. In M.Sc. Applied Mathematics course, 6 will receive Gold Medal and 22 to receive Degrees. In MBA, 6 Gold Medal and 71 Degrees, In MCA, 05 Gold Medal and 54 Degrees, In MBA-FM course 5 Gold Medal and 28 Degrees, in Masters of Bioresources Biotechnology, 2 Gold Medal and 15 Degrees and In M.Sc Information Technology 5 Gold Medal and 27 Degrees will be presented to the candidates.
Vice Chancellor said that two candidates of Engineering stream will get Gold Medals while 93 B-Tech Degrees will be accorded to meritorious passouts. In BCA course one candidate has been screened for Gold Medal and 02 have been registered for getting the Degrees.
He said that besides Murthy and Chef Minister Omar Abdullah, Minister for Higher Education Abdul Gani Malik and Chairman Wakf Council and Minister of State for Haj & Auqaf Ajaz Khan will be guest of honour.
He said that besides Ministers, legislators, senior politicians and bureaucrats will grace the occasion, University Executive Council members, Academic Council Members, Vice Chancellors of different Universities, civil society, parents and district administration will also participate. He added that in view of the security reasons, there will be entry by Cards.
