| Gujjars demand tribal area development in Poonch, Rajouri | | | Jammu, Dec 13: Akhil Bhartiya Gujjar Maha-saba on Thursday dema-nded development of the tribal areas of the state especially Poonch and Rajouri districts. President of the Maha-saba Eshfaq ul Rehman Poswal said that in Poonch the tribal population is around 40 percent "but the areas have been neglected from basic necessities of life." "The government is doing step motherly treatment with the tribal people and those who have political back up are taking benefits and the others are suffering miserably due to non availability of roads, water, electricity, ration, kero-sene and other facilities. Due to the poor implementation of centrally and state sponsored sche-mes the tribal people have been ignored by the government," he said in a statement and added that due to the political backing the non tribal people are getting benefited. He claimed that the Tribal Sub Plan amounting Rs 45 crores released by the state government which was to be utilized before March has not been released yet. "The government has delayed the utilization process which will result in loss of the said amount."
