| Power crisis spark anti-PDD protests | | |
early times report Anantnag, Dec 13: Hundreds of people inclu-ding women and children in South Kashmir's Dooru Larkipora Naidpora on Thu-rsday protested against Power Development Dep-artment authorities for failing to repair the damaged transformer. The protesters who blocked Anantnag-Dooru road alleged that the PDD had failed to repair the transformer due to which the village was reeling under darkness from the last one month. Students who are appearing in university and college level examinations are worst sufferers, they said. Expressing her anger, Taja, a protester said, "We pay Rs 500 as electricity fee every month without power supply. From the last one month we are reeling under darkness. From the day one PDD employees are only assuring us about the installation of transformer but haven't installed yet which forced us to come on streets." Maqsood Ahmad, a student said, "We don't know what is wrong with the PDD and why they are not returning our transformer."
