EARLY TIMES REPORT
NEW DELHI, Dec 13: Me-mber Parliament Jammu-Poonch Constituency, Mad-an Lal Sharma has lauded Government of India's decision particularly the role of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and President Congress Sonia Gandhi for taking decision for transferring cash subsidy of Rs 520.50 into the bank accounts of LPG Consumers and asking them to buy their LPG at the market price of 931 per cylinder.
Sharma said that the decision of direct cash transfer would result to putting an end to large amount of pilferage taking place in market of LPG. He informed that Government will implement this scheme in 51 districts from January 1 and demanded that the same should also be implemented in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharma said that the areas of Rajouri, Poonch and border belts of Samba are hilly and tough and consumers who have the LPG connection are feeling difficulty in getting the subsidized LPG cylinder.
Sharma said that the petroleum Ministry is feeling difficult to launch the schemes in the districts where "Aadhaar" penetration is less that 80-90% and demanded that it should not be made the criteria for launch of the scheme particularly in the hilly, border and conflict affected districts of J&K. He also demanded that government should follow the same pattern in distribution of Kerosene, fertilizers and BPL ration to end the role of middle man.
Sharma also asked the State Govt. to direct Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Depar-tment and District Administrations to ensure that all LPG consumers must have a bank account and new banks should be opened in the areas where there is no coverage. He also appealed the general public to open their bank accounts in the nearby banks so that they may not face any difficulty during launch of the scheme.
