| PDD casual labourers observe strike on third consecutive day | | |

Jammu, Feb 20: Angered over the delaying tactics of state government in implementation of agreement, casual laborers of Power Development Department (PDD) under the banner of ALL Jammu and Kashmir Casual Laborers Union (AJKCLU) staged protest demonstration.
Hundred of PDD causal laborers on Wednesday assembled in fornt of PDD Chief Engineer office and raised slogans against sate government and against PDD authorities.
Addressing the protesters, Provincial president of AJKCLU Sampuran Singh said that they would not called off their agitation till the PDD administration would not disburse sanctioned 6.5 corer among casual laborers.
"After four months of continue strike by our casual labours last year, the government had sanctioned Rupees 6.50 crores to be disbursed among casual labourers, but it was very sad to notice that even after one year, same amount has not been released thus forcing us to starve" he rued.
He also alleged that the despite Principal Secretary Power, Sudhanshu Pandy had issued order no 308 PDD/2012 dated October 5, 2012 for publishing the list of casual labours but till date nothing has been done.
He threatened that they would intensify their agitation if their demands would not concede as earlier.
Others who spoke on the occasion were state vice president Akhil Sharma, Peer Qayoom Shah and Rakesh Sharma. |
