In Brussels, Radha says engagement of interlocutors was a time-buying process | Taking Jammu & Ladakh for a ride | | Neha JAMMU, Feb 20: Deeply shocked over the lawful hanging of the 2001 Parliament attack case convict Afzal Guru, a Kashmiri terrorist and important operative of Pakistan-based dreaded terrorist and rabidly anti-India Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), close associate of Pakistani spy of Kashmir origin US-based Ghulam Nabi Fai, currently in an American jail, Radha Kumar yesterday lambasted the Government of India saying the engagement of three interlocutors in October 2010 was a time-buying process. "I had thought that time the country was beset with so many issues and the Central Government will implement our main recommendations at an earliest but my hopes vanished when I fully realized that the engagement of interlocutors was a time-buying process," Radha, currently in Brussels, told a local news gathering agency CNS on phone, and added that she is convinced that the "Central Government was never serious in addressing the problems of Kashmir" . Interestingly, however, Radha admitted, though with a heavy heart, that the execution of Guru was as per the Supreme Court verdict. "The execution of Afzal was unfortunate. But it was the will of the Supreme Court and the Central Government had no alternative but to follow the Court decision," she said. Notwithstanding her reservations over the manner in which the authorities buried Guru inside Tihar Jail on February 9 -- the day he was hanged - and the unwillingness of the Union Home Ministry to hand over the body of executed terrorist to his family in Kashmir, her whole approach towards the issue which is being exploited in Kashmir by the vested interests to cause unrest there is surprisingly different. She did not pour venom on the authorities in New Delhi like others had been doing since February 9 Morning. Guru was hanged to death at 8 am and nation came to known about the much-delayed execution around 9 am. It needs to be recalled that the Supreme Court had desired that Guru be executed in October 2006, but the Congress Government at the Centre delayed his execution for reasons not difficult to understand. Anyway, the most important revelation that she made was that the Central Government has thrown the interlocutors' recommendations into the dustbin. "I am disappointed the way Central Government has thrown our recommendations into the dust bin," she has said. One cannot with any degree of confidence say that he/she agrees with Radha Kumar, as she is part of a gang which has no credibility and which is known for flirting with anti-India forces in Kashmir and in other parts of India as well as outside India, including Pakistan, Great Britain, Belgium, Geneva, Washington DC and so on and so forth. Still, however, one can feel her pain caused by the fact that the Central Government has not implemented the recommendations as contained in the interlocutor's highly divisive and pro-separatist report. The report was submitted to the Union Home Ministry on October 12, 2011. Radha not only bemoaned the non-implementation of the otherwise roundly condemned interlocutor's report, but she also told the CNS that the "Central Government is not keen to heal the wounds of Kashmiri people". While saying so, she conveniently ignored the fact that the problem in Kashmir was neither political nor economic but fundamentally communal. Besides, she ignored the fact that Kashmir did not constitute the State of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and "Kashmiri people" but the entire population of the state. Kashmir is a small part of the state and the Kashmiri people (read members of a particular religious sect) she talked about are in a minority, as they do not constitute even 28 per cent of the state's total population but who are very powerful and well entrenched as they form the ruling class. She took the people of Jammu and Ladakh for a ride and ignored the persecuted miniscule minority of Kashmiri Hindus, living in exile since early 1990, and other refugees all leading a miserable life in various parts of Jammu province, also called land of refugees. It is they whose wounds needed to be healed by empowering them to live like they want to live under the Indian Constitution. By ignoring the ignored and persecuted regions and marginalized sections of society and identifying her with the Kashmir's ruling religious sect she has, like other members of the gang of mercenaries, simply exposed herself. |
