| AJKGSTWA demands establishment of Gaddi Sippi hostels in J&K | | | Billawar, Feb 20: All J&K Gaddi Sippi Tribes Welfare Association (AJKGSTWA) has demanded establishment of six Gaddi Sippi hostels in the state. As per press release a meeting of AJKGSTWA was held at Billawar under the chairmanship of its State President Prof. B.P Singh Chouhan. In the meeting establishments of six Gaddi Sippi hostels one each at Bhadarwah, Ramban, Kathua, Bani, Billawar and Jammu were unanimously demanded. Addressing the meeting Prof Chouhan asserted that Gaddi and Sippi tribes inhabit distantly located, secluded and largely inaccessible high altitudinal mountainous tracts of the state and their inhabitations are lacking the most basic amenities of life. He further stated that their economic activities revolve around a very laborious and low remunerative occupation of rearing large flocks of goat and sheep. He also congratulated the community members for establishment of Gaddi Sippi Hostel at Government Degreee College Udhampur, which he considered as a landmark in the post colonial history of Gaddi and Sippi tribes of J&K state as it is the first and only step taken by the Central government exclusively for welfare of community. |
