| NPSU alleges misusing of funds by colleges | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 20 : Leveling allegations against Higher education department, National Panthers Students Union (NPSU) said that the college principals were purchasing various type of material from some selected companies on the basis of commission. Addressing a press conference, state president of NPSU Partap Singh Jamwal alleged that the government degree colleges of Jammu didn't obey the laws and norms. "The colleges are misusing the funds meant for student community. The funds given by the government for development, are being misused by the colleges administration. The fund are shown used in papers but on ground level action is zero" he alleged. He further said that the building of SPMR College was unsafe and the GDC Ploura College was also declared unsafe in 2008. "The GGM science college building was also declared as Heritage college and it was announced by the govt. to provide yearly one crore, but the sitting principal of these colleges does take the interest towards the students but they shows the interest towards the commission done by these purchasing. This shows that theses principals totally misused these funds and playing with the future of the thousands of the students" he alleged. They threatened to launch an agitation against government, if it would be failed to take action against guilty officers. Other who were present in this press conference included Manjot Singh, Karan Singh, Ravinder Jamwal, Dheeraj Sharma, Farid Alam, S Sarbjeet Singh. |
