Hiranagar, Mar 15: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Kathua organized two days block level sports event at village Gurha Mundian on today. According to press release, 17 teams have been participating in different events of games and sports. As per match results, in volleyball, Shakti Punj club Hiranagar beat Ajay club Mela to clinch the title. The winners and runner up teams were awarded with mementoes and participating teams were given rewards. Subash Chander Gupta, MLC, was the chief guest on the occasion. He distributed awards to the youth clubs which participated in the tournament. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest stressed upon the youth to develop sports culture in the villages so that youth can be weaned away from bad habits such as drugs and other petty crimes. He exhorted the youth to come forward and contribute in national building and adopt sports for their mental and physical health. Som Datt Zard, District, Youth Coordinator, NYK Kathua asked the youth to make their carrier in sports and contribute their bit in the national and international levels events. He said that the NYK provides the right platform for the development of sportsmanship among youth. Naveen Naik, Director NYK Jammu, Madan Lal Tofan, Des Raj, Har Dutt Sharma, Mohinder Sharma, Pritam Dass Sharma, Bhagwan Dass Sharma, Shiv Ram, Karan Singh Sarpanch, Shamshar Singh and other were present on the occasion. |
