| PDP's absence makes little difference; entire Jammu opposition stages walk out | | | Aman Sharma JAMMU, Mar 15: NPP MLA, Harshdev Singh lodged vehement protest over illegal funding to political workers and boycott of the principal opposition party PDP made little difference to the conduct and proceedings of the House as half of the question hour was today lost to protests, some of them incoherent to the ethics and norms of Parliamentary conduct. Former Minister and once best legislator Harshdev Singh was inconsolably irate with what he alleged as arbitrary and illegal allocation of funds to political workers in his constituency by Planning Department. Harshdev said that the Coalition Ministers were interfering in his constituency by directly allocating public funds to political workers in brazen violation of norms as a well hatched conspiracy. "This is chor bazari.. Ministers cannot allocate funds.. there is a system," said Harshdev first climbing atop the bench and then marching towards the Treasury Benches. He was however intercepted by the LA watch and ward staff. Harshdev continued to protest despite requests from Dy Speaker MS Madani who asked him to assume his seat. NPP MLAs joined Harshdev and shouted slogans against Coalition Government and the Ministers. It merits a mention here that the NPP MLA from Ramnagar Harshdev Singh has been facing stiff opposition from a group of Youth Congress leaders in his constitution and the group is reportedly being supported by a faction within the Government against the sitting MLA. Dy Speaker directed the Minister for planning to respond to the concerns expressed by the MLA, but all NPP MLAs made an exit from the House. |
