| Tribute ceremony for martyred CRPF Jawans | | BJP, NPP shame Govt for staying away | |
ET Plus Report JAMMU, Mar 15: BJP MLAs confronted the Treasury Benches today for their failure to attend the ceremonial function organised in Srinagar to pay tributes to the five CRPF Jawans who were martyred in a suicide attack the previous day and later staged a walkout from the House. Flashing copies of the newspapers that carried the reports of absence of any political leader including Ministers of the State Government at the wreath laying ceremony at Srinagar Airport. The BJP MLAs led by Ashok Khajuria demanded that the resolution passed by Pakistan senate against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru be condemned and then accused the Ministers of showing dishonour and disregard to the martyrs. "Shame Shame.." Shouted the BJP MLAs. "You address a terrorist as 'sahib' and dishonour the Martyrs... what is the difference between this Assembly and Pakistan Senate?" questioned Khajuria, while Jugal Kishore demanded apology from the Government. Harshdev and other NPP MLAs also joined slogan shouting and said that the act of the Government to keep away from the wreath laying ceremony had demoralized the CRPF. Meanwhile, MY Tarigami, who had a listed question objected to the protests by the Jammu opposition parties and alleged that they wanted to disintegrate the State. Entire Jammu opposition then made an exit from the House following which the proceedings of the House started, but by then, 28 minutes of the Question Hour were lost. |
