| Symposium on Save the Girl Child organised in Basholi | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Sept 21: To aware the students about the menace of gender inequality and its ill effect on the society Tehsil Information Centre Basohli organised a symposium on the topic 'Save the Girl Child' at Government Middle School Jandrota here on Saturday. Sarpanch Sman Panchayat Devinder Singh was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Headmistress Sunita Sharma and staff of the school were also present on the occasion. Seven students took part in the symposium and threw light on the topic. They stressed on the need to change the mindset of the people to eradicate the social menace of female foeticide which has disturbed the balance of sex ratio to an alarming extent. The students rightly projected the contribution of female gender in every sphere of society, competing equally with the male gender in present times. Sarpanch Devinder Singh appreciated the Information Department for providing a platform to the students and called for organising more such programme in other schools of the area. Deepika Kumari secured first position in the symposium while second and third positions were bagged by Ahmed Nadeem and Vishu Verma respectively. |
