Private land occupied by Forest department in Ramban | SIC directs DC to provide Information with 15 days | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 21: The DC Office Ramban has failed to initiate eviction of a privately owned land by Forest department in the district for which the DC office had directed the DFO Batote to produce the documents. The DC Ramban has mentioned in his orders that if the land documents could not be produced by the DFO within a week's time it would be presumed that DFO office has no such documents and the eviction would be initiated for the same. As the DFO could not produce the requisite documents the DC office had to initiate the eviction process but till date the same has not been done. In this contest an RTI application was moved before PIO DC Office Ramban last year in March and when the reply was not provided by the said PIO the case finally landed in State Information Commission (SIC) Jammu. As per the details available with Early Times one Suhail Gupta from Trikuta Nagar, Jammu moved an application dated 29-03-2012 under J&K RTI Act, 2009 before the PIO / Assistant Commissioner, Ramban seeking the following information :- 1. Deputy Commissioner, Ramban on 20-06-2012 vide letter No:518/SQ to Divisional Forest Officer, Forest Department, Batote regarding possession on private land which belongs to Ram Dass S/o Chajju Ram at Khasra No. 826 measuring 1 kanal, D.C. Ramban requested the DFO to produce the documents within week's time and D.C Ramban stated otherwise it will be presumed that you do not have any document regarding the possession of said land and action under law for eviction will be initiated. 2. What action was taken thereafter, after getting no reply from Forest Department after week, as D.C Ramban stated that it will be presumed that DFO do not have any document regarding the possession and action under law for eviction of the land will be initiated? The PIO apprised the State Information Commission (SIC) during hearing of the appeal on September 19th that RTI application of the information seeker was duly replied, however, the status report and action details relating to completion of enquiry by Revenue Department and Forest Department has not been answered. The PIO sought 15 days time to furnish revised information relating to the status report/action details to the information seeker. "In view of the undertaking given by the PIO, it is hereby ordered that the requisite information sought by the information seeker in his RTI application shall be furnished to him within 15 days from the date of receipt of this order under an intimation to the Commission" reads the order issued by SIC on September 19th in its Jammu office. |
