Curfew continues in Shopian on 14th day, unrest goes on in Valley | | | early times report Srinagar, Sept 21: The curfew restrictions imposed in Kashmir's Shopian district today completed two weeks today while the protests against the killings in Shopian on Sept 7 and Sept 11 in other parts of the valley continue to paralyze normal life. According to the details received authorities imposed strict curfew in Shopian today on 14th consecutive day following the tension that gripped in the area after four people were killed in a firing incident on September 7 and one more person who was killed on September 11 in Gagren area of Shopian. At a time when Business establishments, educational institutions and public transport was off the roads, however, private cars, were plying on the roads in the city and and in other districts of the Kashmir except shopian.To maintain law and order authorities had deployed forces in the city and in many towns to prevent any untoward incident. Meanwhile it was reported from the area that people of main town Shopian remained adamant over the demand of removing CRPF camp from Gagren area and besides demanding action against CRPF personals involved in the killing of five people in two separate firing incidents. They alleged that authorities have been imposing strict curfew in the area since September 8 and to avoid any further untoward incident in the area. As a partial shutdown was observed in Kashmir today against the Shopian incidents in response to call given by separatist faction lead by Syed Ali Shah Geelani. |
