On International Day of Peace people form 'Human Chain' in Jammu

Jammu, Sept 21: As a part of International Day of Peace celebration, Catholic Social Service Society, in collaboration with PRAYAS, JK Peace Mission, Vichar Kranti Manch International and Retired Officers Forum organized a "Human Chain Formation and Peace walk" on Saturday, from St. Mary's Garrison Church, Gandhi Nagar here.
Prior to the 'Peace Walk', the participants formed a huge human chain from satwari to the main stop carrying placards with messages of peace and harmony. Around 1000 students from various schools and youth members from various units of CSSS joined hand together for this programme. After the human chain formation, Fr. Kuriakose, Parish Priest, Garrison church, flagged off the peace walk, from St. Mary's garrison church, Gandhi Nagar. After passing through the Main Stop, the 'Peace Walk' culminated in presentation school ground.
It was followed by a function in the presentation school ground and it was inaugurated by MLC B R Kundal in the presence of DIG CID Jammu, Surinder Kumar Gupta, Fr. Soosai Nathan, Chancellor Jammu Srinagar Diocese, Rajesh Sharma (Chairman, Prayas) and other dignitaries. The function began with a prayer dance by the students of St. Antony's Convent School, Vijaypur.
Vikrant Dogra, President Prayas, extended a hearty welcome to all the dignitaries and participants. On this occasion Kundal appreciated CSSS and other collaborating NGOs for organizing this programme, and assured all support to continue with these kinds of programmes, with more enthusiasm and energy. He also distributed prizes to the winners of Speech Competition and participating schools.
The performances by Anmol Jaswal and Vidhi Jaswal, Indian Idol Junior Fames and Dance by St. John's Rehabilitation Centre, Mandal, were highly appreciated by the audience.The programme was concluded with the vote of thanks by Fr. Shaiju Chacko, Treasurer, CSSS. From 14 schools and two units of CSSS, around 1000 people participated in the programme.
The schools included St. Peter High School, B.C. Road, Carmel Convent High School, Kunjwani, St. John's Convent School, Mandal, St. Mary's Convent School, Smailpur, Vimal Vidyalaya Convent High School, Akalpur, St. Paul's Convent School, Gangyal, Naveen Shiksha Kendra, Channi, St. Antony's Convent School, Vijaypur, Himmat Learning Field Hig.Sec.School, Channi Himmat, Govt. Girls Hig. Sec. School, Shastri Nagar, St. Francis Higher Sec. School, Akhnoor, Fatima Convent High School, Bishnah , Govt Higher Sec. School, Bahu Fort, Govt. Higher Sec. School, Shastri. N, St. Peter Higher Secondary School, Karan Bagh and Presentation Convent High School, Gandhi Nagar. Besides, members from various organizations and media also were present.
