3 held, stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 7 lakh's recovered

Jammu Sept 21: With effecting recoveries of burgled items including gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 7 Lakhs, police today claimed to have solved seven theft cases registered in police station Bahu Fort and Channi Himmat.
Addressing media persons here today Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Atul Kumar Goel, said, "The catch was made by a police team led by SDPO East Shamsher Singh Sambyal besides recovery of valuables which were stolen by a gang of burglars who used to operate in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Stations Channi Himmat and Bahu Fort (Trikuta Nagar) in sub division East of Jammu City.
Sharing details, he said, "Three thieves were arrested from their respective hideouts and the identities of the accuse have been ascertained namely as Ravi Kumar @ Vicky s/o Prem Chand of Qasim Nagar, Salman Ahmed s/o Ghulam Hassan and Taj Masih s/o Raj Masih of Qasim Nagar Jammu."
"During the course of interrogation the accused admitted to their crime and on their disclosures police recovered one gold necklace, 02 bangles, 04 pairs of ear tops, 04 rings, 02 pairs of ear rings, 02 pendants, 02 gold chains, one mangalsutra, 01 nose ring (nath), one head gear (Tikka) and cash amounting to Rs one lakh, 01 VCR, 02 wrist watches and 02 Pashmina Shawls, senior police official said.
Briefing modus operandi of the burglars, SSP Jammu said, "The accused used reconnoiter the area during day time looking for locked houses. Once an appropriate house was identified the thieves would strike at night by breaking the locks to gain entry."
"With the recovery of above mentioned items, the senior police official claimed that the following cases registered against FIR No. 48/2013 U/S 457, 380 RPC of PS Bahu Fort,FIR No. 137/2013 U/S 457, 380 RPC of PS Bahu Fort, FIR No. 138/2013 U/S 457, 380 RPC of PS Bahu Fort, FIR No. 147/2013 U/S 457, 380 RPC of PS Bahu Fort, FIR No. 163/2013 U/S 457, 380 RPC of PS Bahu Fort, FIR No. 158/2013 U/S 457, 380 RPC of PS Bahu Fort and FIR No. 76/2013 U/S 457, 380 RPC of PS Channi Himmat of burglaries stand solved."
