| Govt to address concerns of transporters | | Committee constituted to look into revision in fare | | Et Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 29 : The Government has asked the Transport Union that it is keen to address the genuine problems of the transporters and it will examine the matter regarding the revision in the passenger fare rates due to escalation in the prices of diesel and petrol, operational cost and other spare parts. In response to the demand of the transporters for revision of fare, Government has constituted a Committee under the chairmanship of Transport Commissioner J&K that will examine the matter and take inputs from the transporters of Jammu and Kashmir after listening to their point of view and receiving inputs from them. The Committee will submit its report with its recommendations to the government for the final orders. As such Transport associations and transport unions across the state are invited for discussion and suggestions to arrive at a genuine revision in the rates of the passenger fare in view of the hike in prices. As government is keen to address the genuine problems of the transporters, it has urged the transporters not to resort to strike which would put the public to unnecessary trouble and inconvenience besides affecting trade and commerce. |
