| Congress for non-violence, democracy, socialism: Shivdev Singh | | | early times report Jammu, Sept 29: Former MLA and General Secretary Pradesh Congress Committee Thakur Shiv Dev Singh Sunday said that history of the Congress is the history of country's freedom struggle and the party is the biggest democratic and largest mass based organization in the world Addressing party workers at Sarote, (Bhalwal zone) here, he said Congress is a guarantee of State's unity and integrity and has fought the communal forces successfully in all the three regions of the State, 'as our party stand for non-violence, democracy and socialism.' He said Congress is committed to get the Article 73 and 74 of Indian Constitution implemented in the state in order to strengthen the Panchayati Raj System by ensuring empowerment of our elected representatives in the state. Singh asked the Congress workers to maintain their unity to defeat the 'communal propaganda' of BJP and maintain their close rapport with the people. Senior PCC leader S R Sudhir also addressed the rally and said Congress is dedicated to build an economically stronger and technologically modern India under the leadership of Dr Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi. Earlier local leaders highlighted the problems of the Kandi belt of the Jammu district. They were assured that their concern would be taken with the concerned authorities. |
