| Omar 'lied' to European Delegation on state's accession: Mohan Bhagwat | | Need to bring derailed Indian polity back on rails | | Et Report
Jammu, Sept 29: Reacting to chief minister Omar Abdullah's speculative contemplation put forth to the European Delegation on Jammu and Kashmir's accession being temporary, Rashtriya Swayemsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat termed his rhetoric a 'lie'. Addressing the state Sangh cadre here today, the RSS chief dismissed Omar's call on accession being 'merger' saying that the historical instrument signed by all states of India including Jammu and Kashmir is unconditional and irrevocable. "Kashmir is our land since the inception of the Indian culture which has ages' old tradition of unity in diversity. Accession is the only latest development in its history," said Mohan Bhagwat adding that the process is unconditional and irrevocable and no disbelief on it can be entertained. Referring to the Kishtwar's fallout, Bhagwat said that instead of attempting at normalistaion of the system, efforts were made to champion the communal fanning of the incidence to infuse discrimination among the communities for political mileages. "Attempts were to provoke communal frenzy among the people," said Bhagwat. In reference to this context RSS chief said Jammu and Kashmir is undergoing the toughest of the times regarding threats from the enemy from across the border in shape of terrorism while the state within itself is faced with challenges like discrimination and unemployment. Expressing his view over the challenges faced through the separatist mindset in the state, Bhagwat said such ideology needs to be snubbed through the holistic societal change of the social order which is responsible for electing 'system' that is running politically and bureaucratically in the "reverse" order. On army and security forces' role in safeguarding nation and fighting enemy on the borders, he referred the recent Hiranagar incident saying that the forces have been doing such act of bravery since independence from past 67 years and laid emphasis on the society's accountability in building a peaceful nation by bringing a social change. He cited example of 'contractorship' of the contemporary Indian polity given as a contract by the people of the nation for running the governance, and sought for a change for betterment apropos the system going against the wishes of the people. "System works, politicians work, government runs, but behind all this, there is a bigger role of the Indian society that makes this arrangement work. And if the government fails, nation needs to rise for a holistic transformation of the system that should be designed for their own betterment and the betterment of the nation," concluded Mohan Bhagwat. He emphasized on the need for invoking awakening among the Indian civilization to work for a change of political and bureaucratic democracy which is working 'against the will of the people'. "The system has fallen prey to foreign machinations and is getting played into their hands while following their diktats under many compulsions. Common man has to rise to set the system straight,' he said adding that integrally united, the people of India can thwart any design and bring back on rail the derailed Indian politicians and the bureaucrats. On terrorism front, he said that Indian weak policies have become their strength and the need of the hour is to make India self sufficiently strong so that inimical forces could be mowed down. |
