| Madan bats for Ex-servicemen, seeks waiver of VAT on canteen items | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Sept 29 : Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma today advocated the issues of Ex-Servicemen including immediate waiver of VAT from canteen stores in J&K, while addressing convocation of Ex-Servicemen organized by J&K Ex-Servicemen League at Jammu. According to press release, he also demanded that reservation to Ex-men withdrawn by the J&K Government be restored and the quota for them be enhanced on the pattern of neighbouring states like HP and Punjab. He also endorsed the demand of immediate 6% in the police raised by the Ex- Service men . Sharma also recommended for upgradation of Mahavir Chakra award of Brig. Rajinder Singh to Paramvir Chakra for his supreme sacrifice enabling accession of J&K with Union of India. Mr. Sharma also shows concern over the childish and irresponsible behaviour of Pakistan and termed Pakistan as a hostile neighbour. While condemning the attack in Kathua and Samba districts he called upon the security agencies to make a strong security grid to thwart any future incident. He expressed his heartfelt sympathies with the Police, Armymen and civilian martyred in these attacks. He also submitted a memorandum demanding strengthening of 129 Inf Bn(TA) Eco JAK LI, Raising Disaster Management Battalions, Dealing with present situation both internal and external, upgrading Mahavir Chakra, establishment of defence ordnance factory in Jammu. |
