| 21,000 candidates appeared in JKCCE in J&K | | | early times report JAMMU, Sept 29: Nearly 21,000 candidates appeared in the state's most prestigious J&K Combined Competitive (Preliminary) examination (JKCCE) conducted by Public Service Commission, in two both the cities of the state. Out of total 25,000 aspirants, about 16 per cent candidates did not appear in the examination. The exams are being conducted for 99 posts. As many as 21,000 candidates appeared in General Studies' paper while the number of absentees was more in Optional Subject. Official said that it was a hassle-free and smooth examination and about 84 per cent students appeared in it. There was no report of copying or untoward incident from any of the centres in Jammu and Srinagar. He disclosed that 35 centers were set up by the PSC in Jammu and Srinagar. "Out of 35 centres, 22 were set up in Jammu and 13 in Kashmir. Officials said about one-third candidates would be selected for mains examination on the basis of their performance in the Preliminary test. The aspirants were seen queued up outside their respective centers to find their names enrolled for the competition. Soon after the completion of the examination, mixed reaction was witnessed outside the centers. While some candidates described the examination pattern as 'easy' and 'simple', others termed it 'complicated.' Rakesh Malhotra, who was appearing in the examination for second time said, "Today's paper was easy and good. Out of total 120, I managed to solve about 100 questions. Both the general studies and optional papers were easy as compared to the previous year." Appearing for first time for state's top bureaucratic examination, Anju Khajuria said, "It was difficult for me to solve some questions of psychology. I managed to solve all science related questions. One can qualify this examination if we spend six to eight hours on routine basis for eight months."
