| ‘Ali Rang’ mesmerizes audience | | |  early times report
Jammu, Sept 29: A programme under the title name 'Ali Rang' to honour Prof Liaqat Jafri today mesmerized the audience through the melodic renditions of Jafri's Urdu poetry.
The Programme begins with welcome address of Sham Sajan, the pioneer of Indian Cultural Forum.
Sajan gives an elaborate introduction of this programme series. The programme was presided over by Dr. Zahoor-u-Din. Journalist Suhail Kazmi was the chief guest while as eminent Punjabi writer Khalid Hussain was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Terming Liaqat Jaffri as an ace poet of the state, Dr. Zahoor-u-Din in his presidential address said that Liaqat has enriched and encouraged Urdu Ghazals by his thoughtful poetry. 'I have been watching Liaqat's poetry for a decade now and there is no doubt that by laborious efforts he is in the process of furthering his poetic richness' said Dr. Zahoor-u-Din.
In his speech, Khalid Hussain while recalling the days when he was Deputy Commissioner of Poonch said that he had understood the capabilities of Liaqat when he was a college boy. 'I stressed him to come out in open and avail the opportunities and he kept my words and migrate to Jammu immidiately' said Khalid Hussain. 'It was vision, concern and pains of Jaffri that the literary personas like Basheer Badr and Nida Fazili visited Ponch to attend highly enlightened poetic programmes', said Khalid Hussain.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dr. Liaqat Jaffri hails from Poonch and is a Professor in prestigious MAM College Jammu. He was in news recently due to his entry for writing film songs in Bollywood. On the demand of general audience Dr. Liaqat Jaffri recited his poetry and enthralled the public which constituted a galaxy of intellectuals, writers, scholars, poets and eminent personalities. These all Ghazals were musically and aesthetically composed by Sham Sajan itself while renditions were accompanied by a renowned Violinist of state Amarjit Singh and the ably talented Tabla player. |
