| CCA welcomes probe, cautions against powerful lobbies | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 4: Coaching Centres Association of Kashmir welcomed the Chief Ministers statement regarding the case of Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) bunglings being probed by the state's Crime Branch.
The Coaching Centres Association (CCA) said that it is definitely a good step. "If implemented properly it will go a long way in not only saving career of thousands of students but also deterring any future exploitative element," said G N Var chairman CCA.
The association termed the change in government attitude as positive. "We are happy that the massive problem has been acknowledged at the highest level and a probe initiated," said Var. "Earlier the government has been excusing itself from the matter by saying that they have no role in the implementation of the scheme."
However the association cautioned against some powerful lobbies who are backing the scam, and who will do anything to sabotage the probe.
"Given the previous experiences with investigations into high profile corruption cases, we will be keeping our fingers crossed, till the outcome of this probe," said Var. "Sometimes even if intention at the higher level is clean, we have seen the lower rung officials failing to carry forward the investigation in the same spirit due to number of suspicious reasons."
War called for the time bound investigation into the matter so that the case does not become just another unfinished probe. |
