| Cop managing SMGS parking lot in his wife's name lands up in trouble | | Authorities shoot notice for misbehaving, overcharging | | Sumit Sharma
Jammu, Oct 4: A Jammu and Kashmir police cop who managed contract of parking lot at SMGS hospital in the name of his wife has landed in trouble following the complaints of overcharging from the people who parked their vehicles at SMGS hospital as two similar complaints were lodged against the contractor in Chief Minister's Secretariat and Police. However, while complaint has been verified by the police, SMGS hospital authorities have shot notice to the contractor to clear his position.
One Eklavya Gupta, on Thursday complained to the Police that the SMGS parking lot contractor was overcharging. He has been allegedly charging Rs 10 instead of Rs 5, the approved ticket rate for two wheelers, it added. While the complaint was being verified by police GMC Principal and Superintendent SMGS hospital received similar complaints which was addressed to the Chief Minister alleging there in that the M/S Manhas Enterprises who managed tender of parking lot at SMGS hospital has been overcharging.
As per complaint to Chief Minister " One police personnel namely Sushil Manhas has taken the contract parking in Shalamar Hospital,Sarwal Hospital and JDA parking at Jewel. The said persons is charging higher rates for the parking viz scooters/,cars, than those fixed by the Government. The contractor is charging Rs 10 for scooter parking, Rs 20 for cars and Rs 30 for Bolero for 2 hours and also charging inflated rates for overnight parking and full day parking eventhough there is no such clause in his contract", complainant maintained.
Meanwhile, Purchase Committee of Government Medical College and Associated Hospitals, Jammu while approving the rate contract for manning of parking places in SMGS hospital Jammu for the year 2013-14 to M/S Manhas Enterprises has categorically approved rates to be charged for parking of vehicles in the paid parking which including Rs 10 per time for Car Parking/Jeep Parking and Rs 15 for 24 hours and Rs 5 per time for two wheelers parking and Rs 7 for 24 hours. The agreement also stated that the employees must wear uniform and display ID card while manning in parking places, but the same agreement is brazenly violated.
Further it is also stated in the agreement that over charging, misbehaving, misconduct on your part can lead to the immediate cancellation of contract at any time. Meanwhile Principal GMC hospital Dr Shashi Gupta when contacted said that complaint would be looked into.
