Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 4: The longest surviving militant commander arrested from Bandipora on September 4, Talib Hussain Lali, was handed over to National Investigative Agency (NIA) today, sources said. Lali was carrying 5 lakh on his head. Abdul Rashid Chichi alias Talib Lali of Hizbul Mujahideen with his two associates was arrested from Gujarbasti in Bandipora district on September 4 and today according to sources was handed over to NIA. Sources said that Lali has been flown to Delhi as he was wanted by the NIA. "Lali, an A++ category militant was the longest surviving militant in Kashmir, who was actively, involved in militancy since past 20 years, surrendered along with his two associates after a brief encounter with the Army and Special Operation group of J&K police in Gujerbasti, Bandipora," police sources said. NIA is seeking his custody in connection with a 2011 case of hawala money. Delhi court had issued a non-bailable warrant against Lali after NIA investigators zeroed on his role. According to police sources a resident of Ajas area, Chichi is involved in a number of cases and he was arrested and released many times since late nineties. |
