| HC transfers case of 'mysterious' death of lady from police to CB | | | early times report
Jammu, Oct 4: Justice Virender Singh of High Court Friday in a petition filed by the mother of a deceased namely Shakuntla Devi wife of Sarab Singh directed SSP Doda to hand over the file of case to SSP Crime Branch within a week's time who shall ensure that the investigation of the case is conducted by a police officer not below the rank of DSP.
After hearing senior advocate Sunil Sethi with advocate Veenu Gupta for the petitioner and deputy AG Salim Malik for the State the Court observed that needless to say that the investigation shall be conducted without any waste of time preferably within two months.
In the petition filed by the mother of the deceased she has levelled allegations against the police as well as the accused. In the petition it has been submitted that police has been shielding the accused (husband of the deceased).
Justice Singh after gone through the file observed that if one dive deep into the facts of the present case the manner in which the investigation has been carried out till date which has by now changed five hands and ultimately given to one probationer Sub Inspector who was present in the court and stated that he has never investigated any case of this type and observed that the investigation of the present case to be conducted by a specialized hand that too by crime branch and directed SSP Doda to hand over the file of the present case to SSP Crime Branch. |
