| Vultures eye opportunity in agony Diagnostic Labs recommending patients to Ludhiana on fake Dengue Reports | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 31: Nexus between private diagnostic laboratories and doctors at Ludhiana is creating panic amongst the patients at Samba by issuing allegedly fake reports of Dengue. Highly placed sources in the Health department informed that private laboratories at Samba are misguiding the patients by giving fake reports and advising them to consult doctors at Ludhiana. It is worth mentioning here that the people at Samba are living in panic for the last few months due to reports of rising Dengue cases at Samba. Doctors informed that if they suspect Dengue symptoms in some patients they recommend 'Rapid test' and if the report is positive then they collect samples at the hospital and send it to GMC hospital Jammu for a test called 'Elisa Test', which confirms the disease. 'Elisa Test' is only available at GMC in the Jammu region. "Some of the private laboratories at Samba on the basis of the 'Rapid test' send the patient to Ludhiana, saying that doctors in Jammu cannot treat this disease properly," sources informed. "For the Rapid test the laboratory charges Rs.700 from the patient but the nexus with the doctors at Ludhiana guarantees them much more," they added. Dr. B S Pathania,Director Health Services has accepted that they too have got this kind of reports from Samba that some laboratories for their vested interests, were sending patients to Ludhiana by manipulating them with fake reports. "We have taken up the issue with Deputy Commissioner Samba and our team is verifying the facts about this kind of malpractices," said Dr. Pathania. |
