| 'Rumour monger' claiming presence of ultras held | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Oct 31: Police have claimed to have arrested one rumour monger claiming presence of militants for his vested interests creating panic in the general area of Kotranka of Rajouri region, police said. According to police sources an operation launched after information about the presence of four militants turn out a handiwork of rumou monger Kotranka police but it later turned out to be handiwork of a rumour monger who for his vested interests had claimed to have seen militants in the heights of Peer Panjal mountain ranges in want of bounty money. Sources said that following this information army and police have launched a joint operation to eliminate the militants which is still in progress. "On July 29, after receiving an input provided by one Mohd Yusuf son of Aziz Din resident of Galeer (Budhal), claiming that he was intercepted by four gun wielded militants in a forest but he managed to give them slip after a scuffle, a search operation was launched in the target area, sources said. "Meanwhile, after a futile operation, the security agencies questioned the informer Yusuf and after observing contradictory statements from Mohd Yusuf (informer) and his elder brother Mardan Ali, sources said, adding, "Haji Bashir SHO Kotranka picked up Yusuf who during sustained interrogation spilled the beans that he had to pay Rs1.50 lakh to his mother and elder brother which they had spent on his marriage in the month of July. Quoting Yusuf, sources said, "As he (informer) was not able to pay back the money he (Yusuf) brainchild a plan and after coming from forest he informed his mother Dahna Begam and brother Mardan Ali that he had links with ultras and even threatened them not to demand for money in future otherwise he will take help of the militants. "However, panicked over this his mother informed Mohd Shabir about the presence of militants in the forest and the matter was brought to the notice of security forces and accordingly a search operation was launched on July 29 sources said adding, "actually Yusuf had slipped and received some minor injuries on his leg and he cooked a story to make easy bucks by claiming that he got injuries while having scuffle with ultras in forest. When contacted Haji Bashir, SHO Kotranka said that the matter has been taken up with senior officers and Mohd Yusuf would be handed over to Budhal police for further interrogation as his village falls under Police Station Budhal and it couldn't be ruled out that he might be involved in some anti national activities. He added that the matter is under consideration/investigation and the accused could be booked under section 419RPC. |
