Jammu, Oct 31: Death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and war like situation on International Border (IB) has forced two warring factions of the Congress to announce "truce" to take on BJP in Jammu region and National Conference as well as PDP in Kashmir Valley.
Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Saif-ud-Din Soz today jointly visited border areas of Samba and Vijaypur assembly segments to give the message of unity in the party.
Earlier, it was only Ghulam Nabi Azad's programme to visit border areas of Samba district to interact with the people affected by the shelling from across the border. PCC chief availed this opportunity and accompanied Union Minister in these areas.
Both the leaders were accompanied by their supporters. Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, who is staunch supporter of Azad and Lok Sabha member from Jammu-Poonch, who is known to be supporter of Soz, accompanied their leaders and trying to give the message of unity.
During their tours to border areas, both Azad and Soz interacted with each other and shared problems being faced by the border residents. It was looked like a complete proximity between two leaders as they were sharing their views how to devise strategy to mitigate woes of these affected people.
The Congress workers who were gathered there to meet with Azad were also surprised to see Soz accompanying him.
Earlier, Ghulam Nabi Azad has also surprised supporters of Soz when he informed that he would also participate in the function organised by Soz supporters to commemorate death anniversary of former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi. As per the programme, it was only Soz who had addressed the function but Azad made it point to participate in the programme. In the function he emphasized on the unity among party leaders. He also disclosed that in the next two months he and Soz would jointly address rallies all over the state.
First time after appointment of Saif ud Din Soz that Azad has participated in the function at party office. It is also first time that both the leaders have jointly conducted tour. |
